KARACHI: The Customs officials up to Grade BS-16 of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement (East) are very much optimistic with the appointment of Manzoor Hussain Memon as Collector (MCC) Appraisement (East) in terms of their filed complaints against the officers of the Collectorate, who involved in mal-practicing, causing colossal loss to the national exchequer, an official said.
The officials are very hopeful that the investigation in this regard will get momentum after appointment of Manzoor Memon as Collector MCC-Appraisement (East).
It is pertinent to mention here that the officials of the Collectorate have lodged written complaint before the Member (Customs)-FBR Nisar Muhammad Khan in which they appealed for stern action against the corrupt officers of the Collectorate.
Later on, the former Collector of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Appraisement (East) Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi decided to take legal action against those officers of the Collectorate who were involved in mal-practicing and damaging the national exchequer just for their vested interest, but he was transferred to the Directorate of Reforms and Automation-Islamabad.
The reliable sources informed Customs Today that the Collector Manzoor Hussain Memon would take stern action upon the information provided by the officials regarding the misappropriation in Research and Development (R&D) Section in MCC-Appraisement (East).
The officials up to Grade-16 are already disappointed by the working of their authorities and want legal action against those officers who are damaging the national exchequer with the connivance of some unscrupulous elements by the top authorities of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
“The Collector MCC Appraisement (East) Manzoor Hussain Memon will take keen interest towards the elimination of mal-practicing in the Collectorate during the course of clearing the consignments,” an official said.
