Customs seizes non duty paid items worth Rs5.2m

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Investigation and Intelligence Lahore on Friday seized non duty paid items worth Rs 0.7 million from Skyways passenger bus.

Official sources said that the anti-smuggling wing confiscated shampoos, soaps, cosmetics goods and other miscellaneous items in a Skyways bus near Shera Kott. They added that the total value of the non-customs paid goods was Rs 0.7 million.

Meanwhile, Directorate’s anti-smuggling wing intercepted a truck loaded with 900 sacks of plastic grain worth Rs 4.5 million. The sources said that the shampoos, soaps and cosmetic items were tactfully hidden in the bus coming from Peshawar while the plastic grains were being illegally imported from Afghanistan to Lahore.

The authorities said that they have taken custody of both vehicles and registered two separate cases against accused persons.

The bus and truck were seized on the information of Director I&I Imtiaz Ahmad Khan and the raids were supervised by the Superintendents Nasir Minhas and Ch Munawar.
