Commissioner directs police to start crackdown against substandard CNG Kits in public transport

KARACHI:  Two persons were arrested and four inter-city passenger vans were impounded on installation of sub-standard CNG cylinder and unavailability of emergency exit gate in the vehicles, by the officials concerned in a raid at inter-city bus stand at Saddar here.

The action was taken on directives of Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi, said a statement on Tuesday.

The Commissioner has directed Secretary RTA Manshad Ali to expedite the steps against substandard CNG Kits in public transport including inter-city buses and vans.

He expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives in a recent road accident caused due to CNG cylinder explosion on Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway.

He said that the use of substandard or expired CNG cylinders is a high risk and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
