KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has pointed out a power gap of over 5,500MW between supply and demand. It was stated that the situation would be improved by 2019/20.

The Nepra State of Industry report issued on Monday recommended more gas to the power sector is diverted, whereas gas supplies to those industrial units, which are also generating and selling power inefficiently, be curtailed so that uneconomic use and wastage of a scarce resource of the country is controlled.
