Sialkot: Six booked for using substandard material in Ashiana Housing Scheme

SIALKOT: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered corruption cases against six senior officials of the Housing and Physical Planning Department and a contractor for using substandard material in the construction of houses under the Punjab government’s Ashiana Housing Scheme, Sialkot.

ACE Gujranwala Regional Director Dr Suhail Anwar Chaudhry said that a high-level team of ACE conducted a detailed inquiry following public complaints regarding the use of substandard construction material in Ashiana Housing Scheme, Sialkot. He said that the ACE team proved the allegations against the officials and the contractor after investigation.

He said that ACE has registered a corruption and fraud case against Housing and Physical Department Deputy Director Tahir Sultan, three assistant directors – Arif Imtiaz, Muhammad Tahir Sultan and Malik Akhtar – two accused sub-engineers – Alam Sher and Manzur Hussain – and government contractor Muhammad Shafiq in this regard.

Suhail further said that ACE has submitted a detailed report to the Punjab government after registration of a case and is seeking orders of the provincial government to arrest the accused.
