TOKYO: Mitsubishi has officially released a render with the Concept XR-PHEV II set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Mitsubishi is currently detailing the new Concept XR-PHEV II which will be officially presented to the public during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The model in question is said to offer a preview of a second production PHEV, after the Outlander PHEV, and it stands at 4,490 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. This is slightly larger than the current ASX but smaller than the Outlander and rumor has it that it might actually serve as a basis for the new generation of the compact crossover too.

The design of the one-off model is highlighting the lower front grille with its trapezoidal shape, the air vents with chrome gills, different headlights, new upper grille, smaller side mirrors and new wheels. Power is being provided by a new 163 HP electric motor, taking its juice from a 12 kWh battery and being backed up by the conventional combustion engine. Mitsubishi says that the model is emitting less than 40 g/km of CO2 and that it can switch from all-electric mode to series hybrid or parallel hybrid, depending on the battery level or driving conditions. The driving mode can also be selected manually for Battery Charge or Battery Save. The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II will be sharing the space in Geneva with the European version of the L200.
