Multan Customs Intelligence intercepts container of imported auto parts

MULTAN: Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation has intercepted a container of imported auto parts near Chowk Maitla in an operation.

Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation has captured a container of 40 feet on a tip of an informer .The container was loaded with imported Auto parts and the importer have cleared the auto parts consignments from Karachi Port Qasim .

The total worth of the loaded auto parts was almost 5 million but the custom duty paid with RS.1.2 million and remaining duty of 1.5 million was evaded with the assistance of customs staff at Karachi.

During the comprehensive inspection of the importers documents and the imported auto parts cleared from the Karachi that Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation has detected the tax customs duty evasion of Worth Rs.1.5 million during the clearance of their auto consignments.

Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized the container in the wrong assessment as the customs duty of cleared consignment was Rs.2.5 million but the importer have paid only Rs. 1.2 million for clearance through the embezzlement of customs staff at Karachi .

Nisar Ahmad told customs today that the container was charged less duty with the help of customs staff at Karachi and we have captured the container on credible information and departmental action will be taken against the culprits as they have cause the loss of Rs. 1.5 million to national exchequer through this dishonest act.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad have directed orders for the lodging a case against those employees which were found involve in the embezzlement of customs duty along with importer Rashid Waqar in the import of Auto spare parts.

Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized the container loaded with auto parts after lodging an advance information report and further investigation were under process.
