CDA to plant 0.45m saplings under ‘Green Islamabad Campaign’ to pay homage to APS martyrs

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to pay homage to the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) launched ‘Green Islamabad Campaign’ under which it will plant 0.45 million saplings to beautify the federal capital.

During the drive, CDA will beautify the green belts, major avenues, service roads and would plant flower at green belts and medians. Major avenues, parks and service roads of the city will be enriched with beautiful plants and colorful flowers.

On the occasion, CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal said that the civic body named the trees after the martyrs of Army Public School to pay tribute to their bravery and sacrifice. He said that the D-12 sector would be remembered with the names of APS martyrs, adding that 150 trees with names of APS students planted in this venue.

He said that CDA is planning to outsource the parks and playgrounds under corporate social responsibility. He said that CDA would also plant trees along the route of metro bus service.
