MUSCAT: Oman General Administration of Customs has seized 86 smuggled goods, comprise furnishings, electronics and garments on a truck at the border.
A Customs officer said that seized items include 20 cigarette cartons containing 1,000 packets, 16 cartons of chewing tobacco weighing 416 kilograms, 20 boxes of nuts and 30 boxes of olive oil, which were not listed in the purchase document in order to avoid paying duties. The goods have been seized and the case is under investigation.
The Directorate General for Information Technology concluded a training course in mobile computer maintenance of laptops for personnel of the Royal Oman Police. The three-day course aimed at providing participants with the skills and knowledge to help them perform their duties.
Customs officers at Hafeet port in Al Buraimi governorate arrested six persons who were trying to smuggle prohibited materials in and out of the Sultanate. An Arab national was arrested while trying to smuggle 33 bullets. The accused had concealed the items in the trunk of the vehicle.
