ASO seizes ceramic tiles worth Rs 5.04 million from Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized ceramic tiles worth Rs 5.04 million, involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 1.72 million.

Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad Collector Tauseef Ahmed on tip-off directed the ASO team to conduct an operation against M/s Ababeel Tiles & Ceramic.

During the operation, customs officials seized 5,703 boxes of ceramic tiles worth Rs 5.04 million from the godown, as the officials of the warehouse could not produce the import documents regarding the tiles.

As per the details, the owner of the godown named Zulfiqar Ali was present on spot but when he was asked to show the legal documents of imported tiles, he could not.

Now, the accused appeared before ASO superintendent and submitted an affidavit in which he stated that he had no documentary evidence of legal import/lawful possession of the ceramic tiles and was ready to pay leviable duty and taxes.
