ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Adjudication Collector Seema Raza Bukhari will hear the smuggling case against courier company TCS and Smart Zone on March 31.

Earlier, the TCS did not consider itself a party to the said case and had a view that the TCS had no connection with smuggling, as it was a matter between Custom Intelligence and Smart Zone.

It is expected that customs authorities may pass a judgement in the smuggling case in the upcoming month. Keeping in view the expected judgement, legal advisers for TCS suggested that it should appear before the court to defend the allegations, as adjudication can issue one-sided decision due to its absence.

Now, the TCS authorities have decided to appear before Customs Adjudication as a party to the case to defend the allegations.

It is pertinent to mention here that Customs Intelligence had imposed smuggling charges on the TCS and Smart Zone due to their allegedly involvement in smuggling of electronics.
