Representatives from all over Pakistan to join pre-budget consultations

KARACHI: Representatives from more than 24 chambers of commerce and industry and associations from all over Pakistan are expected to participate in Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) pre-budget consultative meeting scheduled to be held on February 4, 2014.

KCCI will compile comprehensive budget proposals after getting input from representatives of trade and industrial associations and send them to the the finance ministry and Federal Board of Revenue for consideration and inclusion in the budget for 2014-15. KCCI President Abdullah Zaki has said that KCCI had invited all the presidents of chambers of commerce and industry in the country to give their input on issues and help prepare budget proposals.

He said that the consultative meeting will have two sessions. In the first session senior office bearers of various chambers and trade bodies will discuss issues and suggest measures for redressel and in the second session, leaders of various political parties will participate and give their input on issues.

It will provide an opportunity to identify customs anomalies besides exploring ways and means on how to improve Pakistan’s exports, Zaki said.

He said that Pakistan’s economy is facing serious challenges of energy issues, taxation, political crisis, law and order and added that the consultative meeting will focus on highlighting these issues. Zaki said that the meeting will provide an opportunity to all the participants to come forward and give recommendations on how to pull the economy out of the ongoing crisis.
