In the petition, the CA firms had requested the court to declare the imposition of sales tax on legal services as illegal and declare sections 2 (56) and item 9815 in Part B of the second schedule to the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act 2011 as illegal, unconstitutional and void ab initio. The petitioners sought that the court declared that sales tax could not be levied on the services being provided by Chartered Accountants.

However, sideline meetings between the petitioners and the SRB authorities helped the parties reached a consensus on the issue. At which the chartered accountants agreed to pay sales tax on service to the Sindh government through SRB and withdrew the petition.
