Afghan Transit Trade goods’ scanning reduced to 20% to avoid delay

KARACHI: For early clearance of consignments, Implementation on the scanning of consignments from 100 percent to 20 percent with the consent of the Afghanistan government and Customs authorities has started from Tuesday.

All the authorities have been directed to ensure the policy as it would reduce the delays in the transit of the goods.

It may be mentioned here that decision was taken recently keeping in view the complaints of delays due to 100 per cent scanning.

Sources informed that a team of Afghanistan Customs officials would visit Pakistan and conduct a detailed survey to check the provisions of infrastructure and other need facilities and requirement for the smooth transit of Afghan Transit Trade goods in particular.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan Customs has offered the Afghanistan Customs all support needed in this regard.

Meanwhile, on another important decision taken recently by the Directorate of Transit Trade of replacing bank guarantees with the revolving guarantees, sources said that Federal Ministry of Commerce has made a working group which has notified its findings in this regard.

A notification in this regard is also expected soon, it is further learnt here.
