FBR holds workshop to keep senior officers abreast of modern taxing techniques

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has urged the officers of the higher grades to keep them abreast of technological advances to make the organisation a dynamic and vibrant taxing authority.

While speaking separately at inauguration and concluding sessions of a three day capacity building workshop for the grade 20 officers, two FBR members; Member Human Resource Management (HRM) Khawaja Tanveer and Member Administration Shahid Hussain Jatoi highlighted the importance of modern techniques in the ever changing world of technology.

With an objective of capacity building of officers of higher grades in using modern tax related techniques, methods, practices and equipments, the Federal Board of Revenue, held a three day capacity building workshop here.

Member Human Resource Management (HRM) Khawaja Tanveer inaugurated the workshop whereas the Member Administration Shahid Hussain Jatoi concluded the workshop. In their addresses to the participants, both of the members of the FBR highlighted the importance of modern techniques in the ever changing world of technology.

They pressed on the participants to equip themselves with the knowledge of latest modern technology as well as keep them informed about the revolutionary changes ushering in the world of technology to meet the upcoming challenges and to pace with the modern world.

This workshop was specified for the grade 20 officers of different departments and wings as well as from field formations and some 20 to 25 officers belonging to offices spanning over the country attended the workshop with full ferover here at FBR Headquarters.

FBR has organized three day training to IRS grade 20 officers. Presentations were given in different techniques including problems on legal forums, industries and national level issues.

Operating officers from Intelligence and Investigation (I & I) and Inland Revenue (IR) gave presentations to participants of the workshop. The presentations mainly remained focused issues pertaining to everyday problems faced by the FBR    officials in tracing out tax evasions due to legal anomalies and other factors.

This workshop was a part of regular phenomena of practices of the FBR because FBR holds such workshops every year. Previously such a workshop was in Karachi and next workshop will be held in Lahore. Participants of such Capacity building workshops get know how about modern ways of tax collection and then apply those methods along with further training their juniors at field formations. The participants of the workshop also shared new in practice changes to improve tax system collection by their respective departments.

Moreover, workshop covered a wide range of emerging tax issues in the region including energy taxation, regional harmonization of tax systems, analytical tools to strengthen tax administration, reform issues and challenges in tax administration, international taxation, and taxation of high wealth individuals. The workshop followed that tradition, offering a forum for officials in the region to share their experience and freshen their knowledge on the latest and most important issues in tax policy and tax administration areas.
