FBR for proper check on RMS, Customs gears up surveillance

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue has stressed upon the enhancement of “Risk Management System” (RMS) into automated clearance system of Customs.

Sources informed Customs Today that Pakistan Customs has been asked by the Federal Board of Revenue to ensure surveillance in connection with the “Risk Management System” (RMS), as FBR has received a number of reports of malpractices regarding change in the profiles of consignments which fall in other categories.

FBR has emphasized on regular inspection and proper management of RMS in order to eliminate the risk based clearance of the consignments through “Green” and “Yellow” channels.

Sources further disclosed that the several malpractices have come into the notice of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that some unscrupulous elements against paying hefty amount are involved in changing their profiles and switch them into “Green” and “Yellow” channels from “Red”.

Following the directives, “the Customs officials have started the strict surveillance on managing Risk Management System (RMS) with a view to eliminating the risk of clearance of the dubious items through Green or Yellow channels”, sources added further.
