KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-East Research and Development (R&D) Section has decided to move the Customs Court for cancellation of bail granted to Muhammad Ali Chandna, a prime suspect in importation of banned antibiotics case.
Sources informed Customs Today that R&D with the consent of Collector Manzoor Hussain Memon has prepared a plea’s draft regarding the rejection of bail awarded to Muhammad Ali Chandna, while the application in this regard will be submitted in next hearing.
Sources revealed that the R&D authorities concerned have decided to take said action in order to investigating the matter further, adding that a joint investigation team of Pakistan Customs comprised of Ashfaq, Shahid Ibrahim Dasti and Adil Rasheed has also presented another person namely Bukht Khan before the court for recoding his statement in the banned antibiotic case.
It is pertinent to mention here that the investigation team of Pakistan Customs arrested the accused Bukht Khan from Swat. Bukt Khan in his statement before court said that he was a driver and used to provide the transportation facility to the accused importer.
The Customs authorities after legal proceedings freed the Bukht Khan, as none of the allegations found true against him.
It may be mentioned here that the Customs court in the previous month acquitted accused Muhammad Ali Chandna while approving his bail plea against the security deposit Rs 6 million.
