Trade deficit with India stands at Rs 1.43 billion in second half of March

LAHORE: Trade deficit with India through Wagha border remained at Rs 1.43 billion during the second half of March 2015, which is Rs 28 million more than the first 15 days of the same month.

As per the details, the trade deficit was Rs 1.15 billion in the first half of March 2015 against the Rs 1.72 billion deficit in first half of the previous month, February, which was a good sign as trade deficit with India decreased by Rs 57 million.

The trade deficit with India increased during the second half of March 2015 as compare to the first half by Rs 28 million.

Pakistan exported items worth Rs 323 million to India through Wagha during the first half of March 2015, which increased to Rs 446 million in second half of the March. Pakistan exported cement, gypsum, vegetables extracts, seeds of plants, glass and items to India during the said period.

On the other hand, Pakistan imported items worth Rs 1.88 billion in the last sixteen days of March 2015. Pakistan has imported many items from India like soya bean, ginger, cotton, tomatoes and other vegetables.
