AIB of MCC-Appraisement (West) records statement of Zia’s bother in importation of banned antibiotics case

KARACHI: The authorities concerned of Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB/R&D) in its intelligence move in connection with the case of importation of banned antibiotics has recorded the statement of the brother of Zia-ud-Din, proprietor of M/s Chemi Zone.

According to details, the AIB/R&D authorities concerned while complying the orders of honorable court visited the residence of Zia-ud-Din’s brother in Liaquatabad with strict security escorting policemen and recorded the statement of accused’s brother.

It is pertinent to mention here that the court has issued warrant of Zia-ud-Din, proprietor of M/s Chemi Zone in connection with the case in which the importers imported banned antibiotics into country.

AIB/R&D authorities concerned while taking the orders of court into front visited the residence of the accused’s brother in order to refrain themselves by contempt.

The sources informed Customs Today that the brother of accused’s during the investigation stated that Zia-ud-Din is out of country now-a-days and not visited Pakistan for several years.

It is pertinent to mention here that the AIB/R&D of MCC-Appraisement (West) during scrutiny was detected that the importer M/s Chemi Zone was involved in importing banned antibiotics namely “Cefixime” from India.

Subsequently, the AIB/R&D authorities in the month of November-2014 registered an FIR against the importer Zia-ud-Din. However; the importer was not in Pakistan and living in China..

On the other hand, the R&D Section of MCC-Appraisement (East) has already investigated the case and also arrested a prime suspect, as they called Muhammad Ali Chandna in his alleged involvement in importing banned antibiotics.

Furthermore, the accused Muhammad Ali Chandna is on bail right now and another so-called accused Ziauddin is out of country.
