LCCI urges govt to take business community on board for early market closure decision

LAHORE:  Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has urged the government to solve the issue of early market closure in consultation with the business community as forceful implementation would affect the business atmosphere.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir said that decision of early market closure should not be implemented without due consultation with the traders who are backbone of the economy.

He said that government should take the business community on board while having such trade related decision and also launch awareness campaign through print and electronic media regarding energy conservation.

He said that only energy conservation measure would not be doing any part in overcoming the severe energy crisis. We have to enhance cheap hydel power generation on the war footing.

Mian Nauman Kabir said that not only ongoing power projects should be completed on war footing but new hydel power projects should be launched immediately as energy demand was growing with every passing day.

He urged the government to allocate sufficient funds for the construction of big water reservoirs including Kalabagh dam.
