During the meeting, Bajwa expressed satisfaction on the overall performance of the region. However, in some areas, the chairman stressed that the department should expedite performance and pay special attention with a view to achieve the annual budget target.

Sources said that the performance of the region in terms of sales tax was not satisfactory during the first nine months of the year, while the chief commissioner has assured the FBR chairman that the department would exceed the set target by increasing the pace of work by the end of current fiscal year.

FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa also directed the Regional Tax Office (RTO) officers that from April 18 (Saturday), weekly holidays have been reduced to one from two, and said that all field formation offices of the IRS will work six days a week up to June 30 of this year.

He said that the purpose of suspension of weekly holiday is to work for more hours to achieve the annual targets.
