PESHAWAR: Pukhtuns Awareness Movement (PAM) and Jamhori Rabta Committee (JRC) have expressed grave concern over silence of Pukhtun’s leaders in parliament on changing the route of Pak-China Economic Corridor.
“Despite sacrifices of Pukhtuns including children, women and aged men for the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan, a conspiracy was hatched to keep them further backward”, Shakeel Waheedullah Khan, a president of PAM claimed it during a news conference here at Press Club on Friday.
“It is a question mark for the Pukhtuns’ leaders including Asfandyar Wali Khan, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Sirajul-Haq and others to be silence on changing of the first Kashghar corridor passing through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well”, he lamented.
He said that the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) was already facing worst conditions of poverty and the wave of terrorism, militancy and deteriorating law and order worst situations pushed it in further destruction while changing of the route is another attempt to put the masses in further deprivation.
“There are some elements, who don’t want development and progressive steps in the downtrodden province”, he alleged that added that such elements should be unveiled and their nefarious designs based on detestation and keep other provinces prostrate to Punjab.
He informed that China’s investment of 47billions, out of which, a very meager share had been given to KP province, which was tantamount to the only one province developed and others backward forever.
Mr Khan maintained that approximate 57,000 mega watt power could be generated from water of KP’s mountains and also supply to the masses at a cheaper rate, but the federal government was not taking any interest in it why because it would not only benefit other parts of the country but also KP province at a cheaper rate.
“To not announce any mega project for KP by some elements sitting in federation is proving anti-Pukhtun enmity”, he blamed and added those elements were making remembrance of 1971.
PAM and JRC will soon convene a grand Jarga comprise of trade unions, laborers, associations and different walk of life to discuss the step-motherly behavior of the federation with this province and if despite it, the federal government did not change attitude with KP, further line of action would be decided and all dire consequences would rest with federation.
He, therefore, demanded of chiefs of different political parties included Maulana Fazl Rahman, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Siraj-ul-Haq, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Mahmud Khan Achakzai and others to oppose the new corridor in the parliament house.
