LAHORE: Pakistan Customs Land Freight Unit (LFU) Wagah border collected Rs 137.4 million as duty/taxes on import of consignments from India through Wagah border during first fifteen day of April with shortfall of Rs 89.2 million as compared to the same corresponding period of last month, March.
LFU Wagah had collected Rs 226.6 billion during first half of the March-2015 in term of taxes.
According to data available with Customs Today, total revenue generated by LFU Wagah stands at Rs 137.4 million, which was collected under the heads of sales tax, income tax and additional sales tax levied on specific items imported from India via Wagha border.
The LFU Wagah collected Rs 26 million as duty tax; Rs 27 million as sales tax and Rs 27 million as income tax on import of soya bean.
Meanwhile, Rs 4 million was collected in term of taxes on the import of polyethylene materials from India.
LFU Wagah collected total sales tax Rs 48 million, income tax Rs 54 million on the import from India. The LFU Wagha also generated additional sales tax of Rs 1.4 million, while Rs 34 million was collected in the wake of duty/tax.
During last fifteen days of March Rs 143 million of different taxes were collected only on the import of soya products which is much higher than the first half of April’s collection.
Pakistan is importing polymer plastic raw material from India and a number of other items including vegetables, cotton yarn and fruits, etc.
