PIAF urges government to release funds for energy sector

LAHORE: The Pakistan Industrial & Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Chairman Sheikh Irfan Iqbal has urged the government to release Rs 8.6 billion for the energy sector to overcome the electricity load shedding which has been damaging the economy of country.

Talking to Customs Today, Iqbal said that shortage of electricity was hampering the industrial growth, besides damaging the existing industries of the country, causing unemployment and economic losses.

He added that the government took effective measures in its early days of the ongoing tenure by releasing funds to eliminate circular debt in the energy sector, but it was becoming gigantic day by day due to negligence of the government.

Iqbal also suggested the government to reduce unnecessary expenses by focusing on the energy sector for the economic development of the country.
