YUMA: Almost 24 hours after Yuma Police Department officials released an alert regarding a female wanted for burglary, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended the suspect when she attempted to travel through the Interstate 8 (eastbound) checkpoint. Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Eric Odden stated, “This shows a success among neighboring law enforcement partners that will continue to strengthen our shared efforts for public safety throughout the Yuma community.”
In another incident Friday, Wellton Border Patrol agents using night-vision goggles observed four subjects walking toward Interstate 8, near Gila Bend, while carrying what appeared to be backpacks of marijuana. Agents responded to the area but found only the backpacks, containing a combined 244 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $122,000. Agents seized the drugs for processing per Yuma Sector guidelines.
