FBR holds workshop for taxpayers facilitation in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: FBR has held an interactive workshop at a local hotel in Hyderabad to interact with the taxpayers regarding the roles and responsibilities of Withholding Agents and to explain the various e-services extended to them through FBR’s portal.

RTO Hyderabad Commissioner Dr Tauqeer Ahmed opened the workshop by briefly introducing the format and series of presentations and the objectives of the workshop. He encouraged the participants to freely and openly discuss their problems regarding the tax system and to give their input for improvement. He hoped that the participants would actively participate in the session and would come up with valuable suggestions and feedback.

A detailed presentation was given by Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) Hyderabad Manager Zaheer Babar elaborating to the audience the facilities and information provided on FBR’s web portal http://www.fbr.gov.pk so they can take full benefit of the system.

RTO Hyderabad Additional Commissioner, Abdul Hafeez Nizamani gave a comprehensive presentation on the roles and responsibilities of Withholding Agents in the system of tax collection and highlighted and discussed the laws and provisions concerning WHT agents.

The presentations were followed by a lively and detailed Questions and Answers session where the participants highlighted their concerns which were addressed by Commissioner of RTO Hyderabad and representatives of Facilitation And Taxpayer Education (FATE) wing and PRAL.

The participants of the workshop appreciated the holding of workshops and thanked FBR for providing them with this opportunity of direct interaction with the tax authorities. They hoped that these workshops would be made a regular feature of FBR’s outreach program. Hyderbabd Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Qayyum Nusrat also volunteered the premises of the chamber for similar workshops in future.

Chief Commissioner of RTO Hyderabad, Khawar Saeed Akhtar appreciated the initiative of FATE Wing of FBR and said that these workshops should be turned into a regular feature as they provide an opportunity of first hand interaction with the taxpayers and other stakeholders. He thanked the participants for their active participation in the session.

The workshop was attended by a large number of taxpayers, representatives of tax bar, chambers of Commerce and Industry and withholding agents of various organizations from the areas under the jurisdiction of RTO Hyderabad.

This workshop at Hyderabad was held as part of a series of workshops being held all over the country by FBR’s FATE Wing to communicate with the taxpayers and to educate them about the various initiatives undertaken by FBR. The workshops also provide an opportunity of interaction with the taxpayers so as to facilitate them as well as to get feedback from them to fine tune and improve the FBR-taxpayer relationship.
