Customs Court grants physical remand of accused in 10kg gold smuggling case

LAHORE: The Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted a two-day physical remand of an accused in the gold smuggling case.

On Tuesday, Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Judge Nazeer Ahmad Gajana after hearing the arguments of both parties issued orders regarding the physical remand of the accused, Muhammad Aslam.

Muhammad Aslam was arrested by customs authorities at the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore when he was trying to smuggle 10 kilogrammes of gold worth Rs 40 million, which he had tied to his body.

Customs officials intercepted the accused on suspicion and recovered a huge quantity of gold from his possession.

The court approved the remand after a long discussion between the accused party and the court prosecutor.
