Customs seizes 165 smart phones at Lahore airport

LAHORE: Customs authorities at Allama Iqbal Airport Lahore have seized 165 smart cell phones worth Rs 2.7 million from two different passengers on Tuesday.

According to details the customs official including Inspector Muhammad Akaram intercepted a passenger coming from abroad to Pakistan, Muhammad Nadeem resident of Township, Lahore while using green channel to clear the cell phones.

While checking the luggage, customs inspector recovered 98 mobile phones worth Rs2 million of various brands from his possession, official said.

Meanwhile, another passenger, Ali Arslan resident of Model Town, Lahore was also intercepted by the customs authorities at the Lahore airport.

The customs officials claimed that Ali Arslan was carrying notified 67 mobile phonew worth Rs0.7 million

The authorities have registered two separate FIRs against the accused persons and initiated investigations into the cases.

Customs Lahore Preventive officers have speed up the crack-down against the illegal trade of goods and articles following the strict instructions of the Collector Customs, Mukarram Jah Ansari.

He through office orders has told the customs preventive staff to perform well to arrest smuggling activities in the region.
