ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal Wednesday said that a sum of Rs25 billion has been allocated for executing water supply project (K-IV) in Karachi.
Responding to adjourn motion moved by Nasreen Jalil and Col (R) Tahir Hussain Mashhadi during proceedings of Senate session, he said that it had been agreed that the federal government would pay 50 percent of the cost of the project, while rest would be paid by the Sindh government.
The federal government has already released another tranche of Rs200 million which has not yet been used in executing the project.
He urged Sindh government to pay matching funds for executing the project.
The Federal government was ready to pay its share if Sindh government fulfilled its responsibility, he added.
He said that Prime Minister has also allocated additional Rs3 billion for the project.
The federal government was not responsible for delay in executing the project, he said and added rather the federal government was waiting for the Sindh government to pays matching funds.
