Customs Court sends accused of smuggling on physical remand

LAHORE: The Federal Customs and Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court sends alleged cell phone smuggler on two-day physical remand for further interrogation.

Aftab Nawab was arrested by the customs authorities at Lahore airport when he was trying to smuggle expensive mobile phones into Pakistan.

According to details, a passenger Aftab who was coming from Bankok was intercepted by the Pakistan Customs officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.

While checking the luggage, officials found 50 cell phones of various brand from his possession worth Rs450,000 which were more than the limit announced by customs pertaining to the valuables while travelling cross border. After recovering smuggled cell phones, customs authorities arrested the accused.

Customs investigation teams presented him to the Court of Nazeer Ahmad Gajana and asked for the physical remand of three days but court granted two-day physical remand for further interrogation.
