LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed the businesses of five catering service providers over not depositing the sales tax on services.

Sources told Customs Today that the PRA was taking measures to recover the evaded taxes on services. On Monday, as per a statement of PRA officials, the authority in a special crackdown sealed five catering companies until the payment of outstanding dues.

The PRA has sealed the professional activities of Mehran Events Johar Town, Chaudhry Tent Services Gulberg, Ali Raza Caterers Township, Event Organizers and Top Tents Company. All of the caterers and service providers were involved in sales tax evasion of millions of rupees.

The government has imposed an amount of five percent on caterers and catering services since 2012, but these caterers are not paying their sales tax. Now the PRA has started taking strict action against tax evaders.

The team of PRA under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Kashif Malik took this action on special directives of PRA Chairman Dr Rahila Ahmad Sadiqui.
