Customs court sends smuggler on 14-days judicial remand

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent an accused of mobile smuggling case on fourteen days judicial remand.

Accroding to details Aftab Nawab was arrested by the customs authorities at Lahore airport when he was trying to smuggle expensive mobile phones into Pakistan.

Aftab who was coming from Bankok was intercepted by the Pakistan Customs officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and officials found 50 cell phones of various brand from his possession worth Rs450,000 which were more than the limit announced by customs pertaining to the valuables while travelling cross border. After recovering smuggled cell phones, customs authorities arrested the accused and presented him to the court on Wednesday for physical remand which was approved for two days.

Customs investigation and prosecution team again presented him to the court where court decided to send him jail on judicial remand of fourteen days.

Nazeer Ahmad Gajana special judge of the customs court also asked for detailed challan of the case in next hearing.
