FTO Rauf orders timely refunds to exporters

ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman Abdur Rauf Chaudhry has ordered Federal Board of Revenue to issue due refunds to all the exporters whose cases have been decided.

Addressing members of Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he assured business community that in order to facilitate the exporters he would pursue the FBR to make payments of the already settled refund claims within the specified period.

He said that he would also direct FBR to make arrangement for publishing of customs daily list of import and export through Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL). The issue of toll tax charged twice at Karachi Northern Bypass would be addressed as per law, he added.

Presidentof Lasbela Chamber Ismail Suttar noted that the business community had suggested cut in sales tax and income tax in the next budget. He said if the suggestion is approved it will not only reduce the complaints against the tax collecting agencies but also lead to broadening of tax base in the country.
