Chinese Li Keqiang agrees to expand bilateral cooperation with Ireland

BEIJING: Chinese Li Keqiang has met his Irish counterpart, Enda Kenny in Shannon town, in the west of Ireland. During their talks, the Chinese Premier suggested the two countries expand their trade and mutual investments.

The two countries have agreed on a visa-waiver deal for holders of diplomatic and service passports. Li also proposed a further facilitation on the two-way travel of business people, students and tourists. For his part, Kenny said Ireland is willing to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, clean energy and tourism. After their talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation deals involving travel and agriculture.

Ireland is the stopover for Premier Li’s Latin American tour. The Premier will arrive first in Brazil for a visit that will also include Colombia, Peru and Chile. Li will return to China via the Spanish capital, Madrid.
