Karachi Excise speeds up campaign against defaulting vehicles

KARACHI:  Excise and Taxation Department Karachi speeds up campaign against unregistered and token tax defaulting vehicles.

Talking to Customs Today, one official of Excise Department Qayyum Solangi said that during campaign, 22  vehicles were seized, while 26 vehicles were issued challan vouchers and Rs 78,000 were collected as fine from defaulters.

He further said that according to the directions of Provincial Excise Minister the department held open kutchery on different points of the City during which 150 vehicles were checked in the result of checking 22 vehicles were seized including cars, motorcycles, rickshaws, and taxis.

The officials says that this is routine checking but we gear up this process of checking because current fiscal year is going to end. He said that we are instructed by higher authorities to check the vehicles without taking any political or personal pressure.

He said that Excise Department formed four teams who are checking vehicles on different locations of the City round the clock.
