Multan Excise seals Mepco office on non-payment of tax

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation department Multan has sealed the sub division office of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) at Hassan Abad on the non-payment of tax.

Excise and Taxation Multan sealed the office over non-payment of Rs 45,000 property tax. Excise issued several notices to the Mepco to clear the outstanding arrears but it remained reluctant to pay the property tax.

Afterwards, excise following the law sealed the sub division office until the clearance of due taxes.

Excise officials said that department was taking strict actions against the property tax defaulters to recover the taxes without any discrimination.

However, Mepco has disconnected the three electricity connections of the Multan Excise. Excise officials claimed that electricity connections were cut just develop pressure on the excise.
