Multan Customs seizes smuggled red chillies worth Rs 3.6m with vehicles

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Multan Range has seized 100 jute bags of smuggled red chillies worth Rs 3.6 million during a special operation.

The Customs I&I Multan Range staff, on a tipoff, formed teams and raided two trucks loaded with smuggled red chillies. The red chillies of Indian origin were loaded on two Mazda trucks, bearing the registration number of MH-2669 and LES-2899, were passing from Multan to their destination Ghala Mandi Faisalabad.

The Customs Intelligence apprehended the smuggled commodity near Sadiqabad Mills Khanewal Road Multan. The total weights of the recovered red chillies from both trucks were almost 5,850 kilogram. The Customs officials also seized the trucks under section 157 (2) of Customs Act, 1969.

Additional Director Nisar Ahmad along with senior intelligence officers Amjad Pervaiz, Muhammad Arshad ,Muhammad Anwar and Superintendent Ghulam Fareedudin were among the raiding teams that conducted successful operation.
