ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has informed the Lower House that during the past five years 155 bullet proof vehicles were imported, out of which 41 were duty free and purchased by important political figures, businessmen, trade institutions and embassies of various countries.
In accordance with the list submitted by Ishaq Dar in National Assembly, former President Asif Ali Zardari, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Faryal Talpur, Najam Aziz Sethi, Malik Riaz, Deputy Speaker NA Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Nawab Aslam Raisani, Azam Khan Swati, and other political figures besides embassies of US, Japan, Kuwait, Afghanistan, UAE, France, UN, UK High commission, World Bank, Italian Consulate and businessmen were among the bullet proof vehicles importers.
US Embassy remained the main importer with 21 vehicles, British High Commission stood second with three vehicles, while former CM Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani purchased two bullet proof vehicles.
