When contacted, MCC Appraisement-West Collector Muhammad Saleem confirmed the news and said that Pakistan Customs is facing decline at both levels, in import volume and due to this reason customs duty collection.

He said that the Collectorate was highly determined in collecting the revenue in order to achieve the target by issuing demand notices to the different importers for depositing their outstanding payments in share of duty/taxes.

Collector Muhammad Saleem further revealed this scribe that more than 200 consignments are being examined in a day by Pakistan Customs officials in order to ensure facilitation of the importers.

To a query, Collector MCC Appraisement-West said that the laboratory reports of half of the consignments belong to textile fabrics which have been released. Reports of the remaining consignments would be released soon, he assured.

“The importers were mis-declaring the consignments and imported viscose blended textile fabric in garb of cotton blended,” he informed.
