Excise seizes documents of 230 vehicles during crackdown

LAHORE: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has successfully seized documents of 230 defaulting vehicles during general hold-up in the city.

Excise Motor Branch Lahore who is facing heavy shortfall in revenue collection because of taxes by Federal Board of Revenue in the wake of transfer fee and withholding taxes. Due to big amount of taxes sale and purchase of used vehicles has also decreased.

According to Excise official Director Suhail Arshad has formed eight special teams to take action against defaulters. Excise Motor Branch formed many checkpoints at different points of the City to keep check on defaulting vehicles. Director Motor Branch Suhail Arshad is very vigilant in this regard and has strictly directed the officials not to spare any person who found involved in default.

During road checking on Thursday Excise teams checked hundreds of a vehicles and seized documents of 230 vehicles. Most the vehicles were found token tax defaulters while Excise teams also seized some vehicles.

Excise and Taxation Department formed these checkpoints in main entry and exit points of the City. Documents of the defaultering vehicles were seized at Jail Road,  Liberty Chowk, Gulberg, Ferozepur Road, Multan Road, Thokar Niaz Baig,  Wapda Town, Defense Housing Authority, Band Road, Shahdra and Sagian Bridge.
