Customs Court grants physical remand of alleged smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling granted two days physical remand of the accused who was arrested from Barki Road Lahore.

According to the details available with Customs Today, Arshad Mahmood son of Muhammad Ashraf was intercepted at Barki Road Lahore by Customs Intelligence and Investigation on intelligence information. Intelligence team found auto spare parts from his vehicle No LEA- 09- 3595 which were allegedly being smuggled.

After initial interrogation from Arshad Mahmood a special team of FBR intelligence raided at Watan Autos in Badami Bagh area of Larri Adda Lahore under Section of 163 of Customs Act 1969. During the raid FBR team found heavy quantity of smuggled spare parts from the warehouse. Team seized all alleged smuggled spare parts from the ware house and started investigation. Worth of the seized goods is more than Rs 8.5 million.

FBR Intelligence team requested the Court to grant seven days physical remand of the accused as investigation needed. The Customs Special Judge Nazeer Ahmad Gajana granted two days physical remand of Arshad Mahmood and handed over him to the FBR Intelligence and Investigation authorities.
