Russia’s MICEX plunges 0.88% or 0.70 points to trade at 59.90pts

MOSCOW: Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Power and Mining sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.88%.

The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p), which rose 1.18% or 0.70 points to trade at 59.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Severstal – ao (MCX:CHMF) added 1.14% or 7.00 points to end at 622.00 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 1.05% or 0.0008 points to 0.0810 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sollers (MCX:SVAV), which fell 6.38% or 30.0 points to trade at 440.0 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 3.65% or 0.555 points to end at 14.655 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was down 3.57% or 2.240 points to 60.500.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 123 to 69 and 9 ended unchanged.

The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 5.64% to 39.680.

Gold for August delivery was down 0.99% or 11.80 to $1182.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.14% or 1.31 to hit $59.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.15% or 1.41 to trade at $64.08 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 2.78% to 54.210, while EUR/RUB rose 3.66% to 61.072.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 95.42.
