Budget 2015-16: Rs 41 billion allocated for Pakistan Railways

ISLAMABAD: The government has allocated a sum of Rs 41 billion under Public Sector Development Project (PSDP) for Railways division.

According to budgetary document issued here Friday, Rs. 882 million are allocated for acquisition of land for Railways Container Yard Station and Railway Line from Sea port up to coastal highway at Gwadar.

Rs 2.795 billion allocated for Mechanization of Track Maintenance, while Rs 1 billion has been earmarked for procurement and manufacture of 75 new D.E Locomotives.

An amount of Rs 1.5 billion has been allocated for procurement and manufacturing of 50 Diesel Electric Locomotives.

A sum of Rs 2,000 million has been earmarked for reconstruction of assets during the floods 2010. Rs1.758 billion has been allocated for rehabilitation and improvement of track from Karachi to Khanpur.

Rs 2.5 billion has been earmarked for replacement of old and obsolete single gear from Lodhran Khanewal-Shahdara Bagh mainline section of Pakistan Railways.

The government has also allocated Rs 1.030 billion for doubling and improvement of existing Track un-approved from Port Qaism to Bin Qasim station.
