Hyderabad ASO seizes smuggled clothes irons, fire crackers

HYDERABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad’s Anti-Smuggling Organisation has confiscated non-duty paid items worth Rs 360,000 in an action.

Following the instruction of the MCC Hyderabad Collector Ahmed Mujtaba Memon, a team of anti-smuggling under the supervision of Assistant Collector Shahid Iqbal conducted operation to curb the smuggling activities in the region which are affecting the local markets, besides causing loss to national exchequer.

The anti-smuggling team raided the godown of Waqar Karim Goods Transport Company on credible information about smuggled goods. The team conducted thorough search and recovered 192 units of foreign origin clothes iron of Panasonic brand worth Rs 230,400 and 12 cartons of fire crackers having value of Rs 129,600 involving duty/ taxes on both seized items amounting to Rs 141,064.

The ASO team comprising Superintendent Nadeem Usmani, Deputy Superintendent Sikandar Akbar Panhwar, Seizing Officer Khair Mohammad Pathan, Inspector Momin Shah and others took part in operation.
