LAHORE: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Regional Chairman Azhar Saeed Butt has asked the government to enter into public-private partnership with the Chinese and other companies of the world to overcome energy shortage in the country.
He was talking to the delegates and representatives of multinational and national companies which are going to showcase their products and machinery in the second international oil, gas & power (EGO) exhibition being held at expo centre, Lahore.

He appreciated the efforts of the organisers to attract foreign investment in oil, gas and power sectors and said that the situation of law & order and investment climate had to be improved through prudent policies especially in the energy sector.
The regional chairman said that the country was facing acute shortage of electricity, gas and oil and it had slowed down the growth of not only industrial sector but also hit agriculture and other sectors badly.
Azhar Butt regretted that the business community had not got the expected response from the govt during its first 100 days and there was uncertainty among the community because of steps taken during budget 2013-14 and thereafter.
FAKT International Chief Executive Officer Saleem Khan Tanoli, on this occasion, said that more than five hundred companies and their representatives contacted the exhibitors from Italy, France, China and Iran. He hoped that this exhibition would open new era of local and foreign investment in the country.
