Excise Region-B collects Rs 2.12 billion in 11 months

LAHORE:  The Excise Region-B of Lahore has achieved more than 95 percent of the target during 11 months of the current fiscal year 2014-15, which is a great achievement of the region, said Akram Ashaf Gondal, director of the Excise Department Region B, while talking to Customs Today.

He said the Punjab Excise has divided Lahore division into three regions.  Performance of recovery of Region-B is the best among all regions. The Excise Department has recovered revenue to the tune of Rs 2.12 billion in 11 months from the region in the wake of property tax.

This amount of Rs 2.12 billion has been recovered before the end of the current fiscal year. The total target for the Region-B set by the Excise Directorate was Rs 2.2 billion. He said that there were 450,000 properties in Region-B predisposed for property tax. The Excise and Taxation Department is much vigilant in recovery of taxes, especially property tax, which is the backbone of the department, he concluded.
