KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Appraisement -West has succeeded in achieving 99 percent of its total revenue target, set by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the fiscal year 2014-15, it is learnt here.
Sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned have achieved the revenue target 15 days before ending of the current fiscal year 2014-15 and now attempting to achieve the revenue target for the month of June 2015.
The Collector-MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem has confirmed that the Collectorate has collected Rs 213 billion until to-date against the total revenue target of Rs 217.40 billion for the fiscal year FY2014-15.
The Collector-MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem has revealed that the Collectorate was collected Rs 191 billion in the last fiscal year 2013-14 and the Federal Board of Revenue-FBR in the recent year set a revenue target of Rs 217.40 billion for the fiscal year 2014-15 without reviewing the revenue target.
The Collector Muhammad Saleem said that the Collectorate has got the revenue target with surplus of Rs 26 billion in the recent fiscal year 2015-16 and the authorities concerned of the Collectorate since day first was addressing the revenue issues.
“The Collectorate has collected Rs 213b billion till to-date against the set revenue target of Rs 219 billion adding that the Collectorate will easily achieve the remaining amount of Rs6billion by the end of fiscal year 2014-15”, Collector added.
The Collector-MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem further said that the authorities concerned of the Collectorate has held auctions of the confiscated goods three times in a month with passing of every 10 days at regular interval at AICT, West Wharf, KICT and BOML.
“We are working on every front in order to ensure revenue achievement and follow the court cases which are pending in different courts for long time”, Collector asserted.
The Collector MCC-Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem said that despite the fact that the national imports have been decreased by 1.3 percent during 11 months, the Collectorate has ensured achievement of the revenue target by detecting tax evasion and mis-declaration cases in effect manner throughout the fiscal year 2014-15.
The Collector reiterated that the Collectorate was facing acute shortage of skilled sets and manpower, however; the available strength of the Collectorate was working devotedly in order to enhance the performance of the Collectorate.
“We are encouraging the Customs officials by announcing rewards, but due to budgetary constraints the Collectorate is unable to facilitate each and every official who contributed a lot in ensuring revenue achievement during entire fiscal year”, he added.
