SBP foreign exchange reserves increase by $33m

KARACHI: Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves recorded a modest increase during the week ended July 17, 2026, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The central bank reported that its official foreign exchange reserves rose by $33 million, reaching $17.258 billion, compared with $17.226 billion in the previous week.

The SBP said Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.669 billion as of July 17, 2026.

Of the total reserves, $17.258 billion were held by the State Bank of Pakistan, while $5.411 billion were maintained by commercial banks.

At the current level, Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves provide an import cover of approximately 2.54 months, reflecting the country’s external liquidity position.
