LAHORE:State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, while addressing a news conference, has accused the former PPP’s ministers of billions of rupees corruption in Diamer-Bhasha dam project.
The state minister, however, didn’t mention names of those ministers involved in the scandal. He said that the Prime Minister has constituted a a committee to probe into the scandal and the National Accountability Bureau would also be moved after findings of the committee.
Abid Sher, giving details, said that some former ministers had purchased land in the area at lower cost prior to the project and then sold out the same land to the government at higher rates. He also mentioned the PPP and Pervez Musharraf tenures, saying that they looted the country for years. He said that the project cost of Neelum Jehlum Hydropower went up from Rs80 billion to Rs412 billion.
On the occasion, Abid announced that power loadshedding duration during Ramazan will be six hours in the cities and eight hours in the rural areas. There would be no loadshedding during Sehar and Iftar, he added.
