LAHORE: The traders and business community have expressed concern over prevailing political instability and accused Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri of evading tax amounting to millions of rupees.
They said that deteriorating political and economic situation have been completely ignored by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri merely for their political gains. The Azadi march and the Inqilab march of both the parties only meant to derail the democratic process and will not help to resolve problems of the common man in no way.
Moreover, they criticized the vindictive acts of government in dealing with current political situation and condemned the act of brutality of police on PAT workers and ‘snatching’ of containers loaded with import/export goods to stop PAT workers from reaching Minhajul Quran Secretariat.
On the other hand, the FBR has also cornered PAT Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and Minhajul Quran International and served notice to them for evading income tax worth Rs 350 million, warning that their non-compliance would lead to freezing of their bank accounts.
Previously, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Khan has also accused PTI Chief of evading tax and said that at the time when his house was being constructed, Khan did not mention of where the money was coming from in his tax returns. “I am presenting documents regarding a person who did tax evasion for 30 years and did money laundering,” said Chaudhry Nisar
“Imran says he can end tax evasion within 90 days when he himself has evaded tax all his life” Nisar added.
However, PTI Information Secretary Dr Shireen Mizaree dispersed the allegations saying that Imran Khan not only pays his taxes but has always brought back to Pakistan any money earned abroad.
